About The Daily Prophet

The Daily Prophet is a fictional newspaper based in London in the movie Harry Potter. It is the main news source for wizards in Great Britain. In the film, the current editor is Barnabas Cuffe. Due to the undeniably fact the he is very talent and has an ability to influence the minds of a lot of people in the community of the wizards, the paper has been known to have its articles controlled completely by the Ministry of Magic into telling the Ministry's preference and their version of news. This newspaper does not value journalistic integrity. They don't care about the accuracy of their articles and how bias they are, they just care about their profit. Because of this, the Ministry of Magic is highly reliant on the Daily Prophet to assure the people that everything the Ministry does is fair and just.

The medium of delivery of the Daily Prophet is an owl. The cost of the newspaper is 1 Knut (a fictional currency in the Harry Potter film). This paper is delivered daily to the mentors and some select students at Hogwarts School of Magic. The paper features an evening and morning edition, the former of which has its own name as the Evening Prophet. There is also a weekend edition, called the Sunday Prophet. Additional editions can be delivered fast when extremely important events occur. The articles on the newspaper may magically change as the event progresses, probably by means of a Protean Charm.

In the film, this newspaper constantly maintains the top spot of the best-sellers list. Even if the Harry Potter film series already ended, the publication of the Daily Prophet still goes on until the end of time.
